〈 CHARACTER INFO 〉
CHARACTER NAME: Hera Syndulla
CHARACTER AGE: ~27-28
SERIES: Star Wars
CHRONOLOGY: Post Season 3 Episode 20: Zero Hour
CLASS: Hero
HOUSING: She’d like to be housed with members of the Ghost crew, like Ezra, Kanan, Sabine, and Zeb!
BACKGROUND:
” It doesn't matter where we come from. Our will to be free is what's going to beat you. ”
PERSONALITY:
Hera is a woman forged by war- a rebel against an unjust empire with ideals and a will as strong as the steel hull of her precious ship. Being raised in the time of the Clone Wars under a freedom fighter named Cham Syndulla, she is no stranger to what kind of will it takes to break control of an invading force. The death of her mother by the Empire's hands has done nothing but strengthen her resolve. As she sees it, the Rebellion is not just built on hope, but on action. It can start small, but it's a seed that can grow with enough time and effort. And effort is all she can give to the Rebellion. She works tirelessly for their efforts, even postponing personal happiness like romance in order to serve the Rebellion in its full capacity.
As a Rebel officer, Hera is quite intelligent and capable, able to think of both infiltration strategies as well as uncover and dissect some of the plans that the Empire has made against her. This has included outsmarting Imperial spies, such as Gail Trayvis, and even smugglers like Lando Calrissian. She also uses her intelligence- and her good looks- to help give her the element of surprise. Whether it be flirting with the guards of a chemical plant ( Forgot her pass the first day, can you believe it? ) or playing up the "dancing girl" stereotypes of her people, she can manage to wheedle her way out of trouble whenever it is absolutely necessary.
However, Hera has one major flaw as an officer. Because she thinks too tactically, Hera tends to not do well with improvising on strategies or finding another way around obstacles. This inflexibility is perhaps best demonstrated by her handling of the falsified reports on Cynda. After discovering that the reports showing that blowing up the moon of Gorse, Cynda, in order to harvest a rare mineral were falsified, Hera thought it would be defeat due to the fact that all of the most obvious routes of informing the Empire (and thus putting an end to Count Vidian's goals permanently) were closed to them. It was only Kanan's quick thinking that managed to get the report to the right people in time, and stop the moon of Cynda from being destroyed. This, perhaps, is why she works best in a team with him. Her intelligence and his ability to improvise make them a force to be reckoned with, and hopefully in time his flexibility will rub off on her.
Hera believes first and foremost that she should serve not just the goals that touch her personally, such as a free Ryloth, but the greater good. This, perhaps, makes her the true heart of her crew despite her seemingly intimidating role as a Captain in the rebellion. It was her belief in serving the good of all that helped her convince Kanan to stop running from his abilities as a Jedi and join the rebellion, and it is the same heart within her that helped convince her crew to take on another member- and for Kanan, an apprentice- Ezra Bridger. She's become something of a mother to Ezra and Sabine, being one that they can go to for comfort and learning. Even if she is hard on them at times, such as making Ezra stay behind on missions in order to learn responsibility, she genuinely cares for her crew like they're her family.
That isn't to say that her desire to be a rebel and her desire to keep her family close aren't at odds with each other. Hera considers her duty first to the Rebellion, and then to herself. This, unfortunately, means that she ends up sacrificing her own personal wants and desires quite often. Whether it be destroying her childhood home in order to prevent the capture of the leader of the Twi'leki rebels or deciding to abandon the love of her life to the Empire's mercy in order not to jeopardize her cell's connection to the Rebellion, Hera sacrifices for the greater good. In more recent months, she's starting to admit she wants both- even telling Kanan that whatever they faced, she wanted to do it together. All the same, she understands that they both have duties that will take them separate ways, and she's ready to sacrifice her personal happiness for whatever fate the Force has in store for them both.
POWER:
Alien Physiology : Hera is a member of the Twi’lek species, which means that she has humanoid biology that is different from most humans. This includes the following.
- Heat Adaptation: Members of the Twi’lek race run a higher core body temperature than their human counterparts. This adaptation is useful to the desert home world that they come from, as well as travelling throughout space. One drawback, however, is that it means they can be easily overheated under the right conditions.
- Lekku: Twi’leks have two fleshy, fat filled appendages to their head known as lekku. These appendages are useful for storing extra body fat, as well as protecting the parts of their brain that go into the base of their lekku. The obvious drawback to this, however, is that lekku are an easy grabbing place in the middle of combat.
o Lekku are also semi-prehensile and often used in Ryl communication. Some subtle displays of their lekku often are a read for their mood- and can even be used to insult people.
Super Strength : Upon arriving to this world, Hera will be gifted with enhanced strength, much more than she normally has. This will mean she has the ability to do things like break through walls, lift cars, and jump high enough to be considered “flying”. There will be a drawback, however. She cannot control her strength well and will be prone to self-injury for a while.

Alright, whoever's been graffiting my bike with a "ewe-eff-oh" [ yes those are air quotes] icons, please stop.
This is the third time it's happened, and I'm really getting tired of having to scrub paint off that junker.
If you want to paint something on it, I have a few ideas. [ She holds up a symbol that she's sketched largely from memory of her squadron's symbol, smiling almost with amusement. ]
I'd even be willing to pay you. Or at least not report you for vandalism.
LOGS POST (PROSE) SAMPLE:
"If all you do is fight for your own life, then your life is worth nothing.”
FINAL NOTES:
While this is not a power, I believe it should be included under her physical abilities.
Ace Pilot : Hera has proven herself to be an ace pilot in her home universe. From flying her Corellian Freighter, The Ghost, to A-Wings, TIE fighters, and even the prototype B-wing, Hera has the quick reflexes and gut instincts that it takes to be an aerial ace in even the most dire of circumstances.
